The purpose of the Prayer Ministry is to become a church more fully devoted to prayer by encouraging, inviting, supporting, and empowering people to come into God’s presence and fellowship with Him in prayer – as individuals and as a church, through a variety of means. There are many different ways that you can be involved to help us accomplish this purpose. Following are the various ways you can participate in this ministry.
THE PRAYER CHAIN
The prayer chain is an important ministry of our congregation as we pray for the special needs of others. The prayer chain is a network of people, sharing prayer requests as well as prayers of praise and thanksgiving. Prayer requests are received through the prayer cards on Sunday and by phone request through out the week. After a prayer is received, a call is made to 2 more people on the chain, and they in turn call 1 or 2 more people, etc., or an email is sent out with the prayer request. Prayer chain members include prayers they receive through the chain in their personal prayer time. There is a day-time phone chain, and an e-mail branch.
PRAYER GROUPS
There is currently one prayer group that meets each week. This group meets on Friday mornings from 6:00 – 6:45 am, at the church. They meet to pray for the different ministries and members of Peace With Christ as well as family and friends of our community.
MONTHLY PRAYER SUPPORT
This group of people receives a monthly prayer list at the beginning of each month of specific prayer requests. These request come from our church staff for the ministries they are involved in. We ask these individuals to remember these prayer requests through out that particular month. Prayer list are distributed through the mailboxes at church.
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
The National Day of Prayer is the first Thursday in May. This is a day that Christians through out the United States unite in praying for our nation and it’s leaders. We would like to put together a task team to make plans now as to how we will observe the National Day of Prayer in our congregation. If you are interested in serving on this task team, contact John Paulus.
PRAYER RETREATS AND CLASSES
Through out the year we offer different opportunities for you to learn more about developing your personal prayer life and how to enrich your prayer time. These may be Sunday morning or mid-week classes as part of our Life Development process. We also hope to offer at least one weekend retreat a year focused on prayer that would be open to anyone in the congregation. Watch the bulletin and newsletter for information on these offerings.
